Brief Synopsis: Chicago is right in our backyard and in dire need of resources and help. Students at our school generally come from privileged households and don’t quite understand the magnitude of any situations outside of the Wheaton/Warrenville area.
This club has three main aspects
- Awareness to more adequately inform the student body of Wheaton Warrenville South of the needs of others and offer them ways to make change.
- Direct service to the inner city of Chicago and Dupage county through various school approved projects such as aiding a sister inner city school or taking a trip to a soup kitchen in which Mrs. Knapp-Andrews is associated. Each month we'll do something service oriented. Even do things throughout our own community such as help at the Peoples Resource center and Humanitarian Service Project during the week.
- Discussion/Class for debriefing the various projects and discussing what has been learned/gained after the completion of projects. Discussions of how to better serve and to collect various service ideas. Also, exploring the roots of violence and poverty and figuring out ways we can better help. Instigating and performing research, as the best way to change is through education.
